ST. PATRICK’S DAY

El pasado viernes 22 de marzo, los grupos de 1º y 2º ESO celebraron la festividad irlandesa de San Patrick en el @IES Antigua Sexi. La actividad consistía en que el alumnado tenía que participar durante 25 minutos en un taller íntimamente relacionado con la historia de San Patrick y la cultura irlandesa en general.

Hubo un total de 5 talleres:

  1. Manualidades, donde el alumnado pudo crear los típicos gorros de duendes, llaveros y pines con forma de trébol;
  2. Deportes irlandeses, en el que los alumnos disfrutaron de un partido de fútbol gaélico;
  3. Danza irlandesa, donde la profesora les enseñó este baile popular y sus pasos principales;
  4. Leyendas irlandesas, en el que el alumnado estuvo leyendo cuentos sobre duendes y respondiendo a unas preguntas de comprensión y por último,
  5. Dl taller de Trivial donde la profesora les hizo preguntas al alumnado sobre la festividad de San Patrick y la cultura irlandesa (monumentos, comida típica, ciudades importantes).

Last Friday, on the 22nd March, the groups of 1º and 2º of Secondary Education celebrated the festivity of Saint Patrick at the Antigua-Sexi high-school. During the activity, students had to take part in a workshop which was closely related to the history of Saint Patrick and the Irish culture for 25 minutes.

There were 5 different workshops:

  1. Handicrafts, in which pupils could make up the typical leprechauns’ hats, shamrock key-rings and pines;
  2. Irish sports, where students enjoyed playing a Gaelic football match;
  3. Irish dancing, in which the teacher taught them this popular dance and its main movements;
  4. Irish legends, where students were reading fairy tales about leprechauns and answering comprehension questions; finally,
  5. The Trivial workshop in which the teacher asked pupils questions about the festivity of Saint Patrick and the Irish culture such as famous monuments, typical dishes and the most relevant cities.
